Veteran Nollywood actress, Bose Adewoyin, who is famous for her roles as Madam Tinubu in ‘Efunroye Tinubu’ and Mama Onimama in ‘Omo Ghetto’ has passed on at age 60.

According to a press statement signed by artist and theatre art practitioner, Mufu Onifade, the thespian died on Tuesday morning and was buried at same day, according to Islamic rites.

The play ‘Efunroye Tinubu’ was written by Professor Akinwumi Isola and directed by Gbenga Adewusi in 1989.

It was later adapted for television and became a screen hit all through 1989 and 1990.

The play toured Nigeria before it was staged in some cities in the US.

Adewoyin is also famous for acting alongside Oga Bello (Adebayo Salami) in Funke Akindele’s ‘Omo Ghetto’ movie.

While she played ‘Mama Onimama’, Oga Bello played ‘Baba Onibaba’.

Aunty Bose, as she was fondly called, was a quintessential actress, dancer and costumier.

Onifade added;

She was a member of the contingent of (Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture) that performed Funmi Odusolu’s famous dance musical, ‘Ori’ (Destiny) when the state hosted the then Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, in 1984,” Onifade stated. The play, he recalled, toured Nigeria later in 1986, was also taken to some cities in U.S.

She costumed many plays for stage and screen while she also acted.

Until her death, Adewoyin was a staff of the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, where she had participated in many editions of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST).

She also took part in many of the council’s plays and dance productions.

May her soul Rest In Peace.
