Just In: NCDC Confirms 600 New COVID-19 Cases As Total Figure Exceeds 35,000

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed that total COVID-19 figure has exceeded 35,000 nationwide after recording 600 new cases on Friday night.

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, the country’s total coronavirus exceeded the 34,000 mark.

According to the centre’s latest data posted on Twitter;

On Thursday, there were 34,854 total cases14,292 recoveries and 769 death cases across the country.

With the new toll, there are now 35,454 total cases, 14,633 recoveries and 772 death cases across the country.

Meanwhile, according to NCDC’s situation report, overall samples tested nationwide have increased from 202,097 to 206,422 as at July 16.

In other news, Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has on Friday announced the discharge of 42 more coronavirus patients after testing negative twice.

He noted that the recovered patients included 32 Nigerians and 10 foreign nationals, comprising 17 females and 25 males,

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the patients were discharged from five government treatment centres in the state after they tested negative to the virus.

Eight recovered patients were discharged from Gbagada, five from Agidingbi, 15 from Eti-Osa (LandMark), six from Onikan, and eight from the Lagos University Teaching Hospitals (LUTH) isolation centres.

He implored Lagosians to continue to adhere strictly to all guidelines put in place to fight the threat of COVID-19 in Lagos.
