Following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political crisis rocking Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike has declared that his camp has adhered to the agreed-upon peace terms.

Addressing the Oba of Ogbaland, Eze Nnam Obi III, during a visit on Saturday, Wike asserted that all parties involved in the dispute had signed on to the presidential proclamation.

Addressing the monarch, the immediate past Rivers State Governor said he is interested in the peace and unity of the state and promised not to let him down.

“We accepted whatever decision Mr. President has taken and we have on our own part fulfilled every condition given by Mr President because I told you I will not let you down.

“It is just to let you know that your request of making sure there is peace in the state of which you asked Mr President to intervene, we have accepted.

“And I want you to use this opportunity to continue to pray for Mr President for God to continue to give him wisdom to pilot the affairs of this nation,” Wike stated.

This statement marks a potentially significant development in the ongoing feud, offering a glimmer of hope for a de-escalation of tensions. However, whether Wike’s claim aligns with the perspectives of other stakeholders and ultimately translates to lasting peace remains to be seen.
