Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde issued a statement on Sunday, January 21, providing an update on the aftermath of the tragic Bodija explosion.

Commendation and Progress:

Law and order: Governor Makinde praised security agencies for maintaining peace and residents for complying with directives.
Medical care: Over 90% of victims have been discharged from hospitals, while the death toll remains at five. A clinical psychologist provides counseling at the Emergency Operations Centre.
Search and rescue: Operations at the blast site have transitioned from search and rescue to recovery.
Structural integrity: The Nigerian Society of Engineers is evaluating the structural integrity of 230 nearby properties.

Appreciation and Collaboration:

Lagos State: Governor Makinde expressed gratitude to Lagos State Governor Jide Sanwoolu for deploying the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) team led by Engineer Olatunde Akinsanya.
