Army Responds to Viral Video of Recruitment Fraud, Vows Transparency and Accountability

The Nigerian Army (NA) on Wednesday, issued a statement addressing a viral video depicting the arrest of fraudulent candidates attempting to manipulate the ongoing 86 Regular Recruits Intake process in Lagos. The video sparked concerns about transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.

This statement was signed and issued to the press by Onyeka Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, emphasized the Army’s commitment to a “transparent and credible” recruitment process and clarifies that the video showcases one of the measures implemented to ensure genuine indigeneship.

The Army also condemned the fraudulent acts by three candidates and assures a thorough investigation to determine the extent of the scheme and identify any involved individuals or syndicates. The statement reiteratesld the commitment to selecting only “the most qualified and deserving candidates” and promises to hand over the culprits to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

The NA urged all prospective candidates to adhere to ethical principles throughout the recruitment process, warning that any manipulation attempts will face legal consequences. The statement reaffirmed the Army’s dedication to recruiting the best individuals for the nation and expresses appreciation for public support in maintaining the process’s integrity.
