Lagos, Fifth Best African City To Live, Work, 90th In The World — Report

A report from Brand Finance for 2023 revealed that Lagos has been recognised as the fifth best African city with regard to how desirable it is for residents to live in, work in, and invest in.

The research states that Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, received 56.7% of the vote in the survey, placing it in last place behind Cape Town, South Africa, Johannesburg, South Africa, and Casablanca, Morocco, which received 62.9, 60.7, 59.7, and 59.3 percent of the vote, respectively, as the top four African cities.

The only six African cities that are listed among the top 100 in the world are Cape Town, Cairo, Johannesburg, Casablanca, Lagos, and Nairobi, which are ranked 60, 67, 72, 76, 90, and 94 on the worldwide rankings.

On the global stage, London (England) is reported to be the world’s best city brand in the ranking scoring 84.6 per cent, while New York (the United States) and Paris (France) come as 2nd and 3rd garnering 83.0 and 79.7 per cent respectively.

“The ranking is based on a global survey of close to 15,000 members of the public conducted in April 2023 in 20 countries on all continents to measure perceptions of the world’s top 100 cities,” the report reveals.
