The LP has everything it needs to win the governorship race, according to Obi, who was joined by Alex Otti, the governor of the state of Abia, and Julius Abure, the party’s national chairman.

Athan Achonu, the candidate for the LP, was selected as the party’s flagbearer in a free and fair primary election, the speaker said.

“You can take it to the banks, Achonu’s emergence as the party’s candidate was not compromised,” Obi said.

“The national chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure, set up an electoral committee headed by the governor of Abia state, Alex Otti.

“The exercise was transparent and was witnessed by all and sundry. Eventually, Athan Achonu emerged winner of the exercise.

“As a party that is accepted by the masses, we shall give the governorship candidate every support he needs to win the election.

“I urge all members of the Labour Party and the entire Imo people to come out en mass come November 11, and vote massively for Senator Athan Achonu and Tony Nwulu.

“Our mission as a party is to produce the next governor of Imo state and the president of Nigeria in order to save the people from further suffering and agony.

“We know what it takes to change Nigeria, so we plead with Imo people to give him their support.

“Today, we are here to launch the governorship campaign and unveil Achonu’s manifesto and I assure you that we will not let you down.”
