Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala claims her father “is not happy” about her celebration after Nigeria defeated Australia 3-2 in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

A little more than 10 minutes after entering the game in the 64th minute, the 28-year-old scored what would turn out to be the game-winning goal on Thursday.

She profited from an Australian defensive blunder.

Alanna Kennedy nodded the ball past the advancing custodian while the Matildas’ custodian, Mackenzie Arnold, was out in search of the longball that entered her goal area.

Oshoala pounced on the fluff and placed the ball home into the empty net, and she became the first African to score at three different Women’s World Cup tournaments.

In celebration of the goal, she yanked off her jersey as she reeled away with her teammates in pursuit.

The image of Oshoala, shirtless and clad only in a sports bra, has gone viral on social media, generating diverse reactions.

In a post on her Instagram page on Friday, Oshoala revealed her father’s displeasure with the goal celebration.

“My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration, but then again, life is a collection of moments,” the post read.
