King Charles III was crowned at a ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday.

The coronation was attended by members of the king’s family as well as global leaders, and watched by people across the United Kingdom and many others worldwide.

The king’s sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, will be at their father’s side for the momentous occasion, as is Kate Middleton and her and William’s three kids. Meghan Markle, however, is remaining at home in California with her and Harry’s children.

Those lucky enough to be invited, like Americans Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, gave the crowd something to talk about. Though President Joe Biden is unable to attend, First Lady Jill Biden is expected to take her husband’s place.

Other famous faces like Dame Emma Thompson and musician Nick Cave also showed up for the royal event. It’s not every day a King gets crowned, so you can bet all of the bells, whistles, and stops are being pulled.

The following photos offer a glimpse into the coronation, the first of a British monarch in almost 70 years.
