126 More Nigerians Arrive From Sudan

Another set of Nigerians evacuated from Sudan have arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from the war-ravaged Sudan, on Thursday.

The Tarco Aviation aircraft carrying 126 evacuees, all students from Port Sudan, arrived at 12:25 pm.

There has not been any record of loss of any Nigerian so far.

Upon arrival, the returnees were processed by officials with the filling of the returnee registration forms handed to them by government officials.

They were received by officials of NEMA; NIDCOM; the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Others in the welcome party included operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the military.

So far, over 2,000 Nigerians have been evacuated since the war broke out in the North African country. According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), about 500 Nigerians are still in Sudan awaiting airlift.

This is the 9th trip by Tarco Aviation in the evacuation process.
