Falz Questions APC Following Attack In Lagos

Nigerian recording artiste, Folarin Falana, who is better known as Falz has questioned the political structure claimed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, as he recounted an attack by political thugs.

On Saturday, February 25 during the 2023 presidential election, Falz was reportedly attacked with his phone stolen by alleged APC political thugs at his polling unit in Lekki, Lagos State.

In a viral social media video, the singer-songwriter explained that ”the thugs came at about 11:50 am and began snatching phones and beating people. They destroyed a couple of ballot boxes before the military eventually arrived. My phone recovered. Thank you all for the calls.”

Speaking further, he said, “I have a question. Shebi, they said ‘structure, structure, structure’. They have all the structure in the world regarding political stuff. What then happened? Why then did you send your thugs?

Despite the violence, Labour Party won the presidential votes with 108 votes, APC got 31, and PDP got 2 in my polling unit,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has postponed elections in 141 polling units in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State in the country’s south-south.

This was disclosed by the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, on Saturday, February 25 in Abuja.

Mr Yakubu said the process was disrupted in Wards 4, 6, 8, and 14 and the security operatives overcame the challenges.

He said the INEC ad-hoc staff expressed apprehension about going back to conduct the election, thus necessitating the postponement.

We have decided that the election will be held on Sunday, February 26 where 40 out of 141 polling units where the materials are intact.

On Saturday, February 25 Nigerians went to the poll to elect a new president and 468 federal lawmakers. It is the first phase of the 2023 general election with the governorship and state assembly poll holding in two weeks.

This year’s general election is the seventh since the restoration of democracy in the country. The previous elections were held in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019.
