Customs Seeks Collaboration Among Sister Agencies In Blocking Revenue Leakages

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, has charged sister agencies at the MMIA to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service to ensure blockage of all possible avenues that may result in revenue leakages.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Juliana Destiny Tomo, said the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Mohammed Gidado, to have said that the command collected the sum of N1.9bn as revenue in November 2022.

He also said that the command recorded an increase of N350m as revenue collected in the month of November 2022.

The MMIA boss said within four months when he assumed office as the command boss, the sum of N7bn has been collected.

The sum of N1,9bn was revenue collected in November 2022. In this November review, the Command recorded a significant increase of N350m only in the revenue collected compared to that of October 2022. In four months, the command collected the sum N7bn only. The sum of N6,7bn only was the revenue collected within same period in 2021. After taking over the mantle of leadership of the command, the command is gradually recording a greater success. I want to enjoin sister agencies to collaborate with the NCS to ensure blockage of all possible avenues that may result in revenue leakages.

Gidado promised voluntary compliance travelers good travelling experience.

He said;

I assured and still assuring all voluntary compliance persons a good travel experience in the clearance of their shipment and would like to make known to the public that there has been a positive difference in the integrity of passengers’ declaration of goods in the month under review. Once again, we assure all voluntary compliance persons a good travel experience and friendlier clearance procedure of their shipment.
