American entertainment polymath, Kanye West in a post on his Instagram platform has defended his controversial “White Lives Matter” T-shirts.

Here’s my latest response when people ask me why I made a tee that says white lives matter… THEY DO,” the rapper captioned the photo of his black, long-sleeved shirts.

West displayed the shirts at his Paris Fashion Week presentation, where they were captured on camera by conservative media personality Candace Owens.

In the comments section, Owens also uploaded a series of crying-laughing emoticons.

West is confused by the bad criticism his YZY Season Nine collection received, according to people close to the former hip-hop star and current fashion designer, Page Six said this week.

Page Six quoted a source as saying:

He believes it to be a PC issue. He wants to give the “other side” [of the American debate over race] a voice.”

He doesn’t understand why people aren’t seeing that, they continued.

Jaden Smith, who was in the front row, left the show just after Kanye West showed the designs. Then, a phalanx of media professionals, activists, and public figures criticized.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid is one of his most well-known detractors. She criticized West while defending Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson in a heated Instagram message.

He had savagely mocked Johnson’s sense of Karefa fashion for liking his widely criticized items.

You wish you possessed some of her intelligence.

You’ve got no idea, hehe She may be the one person who can save you if there is any significance to anything you say or do “West reposted a post that Hadid put on.

Additionally, Vogue issued a statement endorsing its employee;

Vogue stands with Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, our global fashion editor at large and longtime contributor.

She was personally targeted and bullied. It is unacceptable.

Now more than ever, voices like hers are needed and in a private meeting with Ye today she once again spoke her truth in a way she felt best, on her terms.”
