A 30-year-old commercial bus conductor was reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen on Monday morning, June 27, in the Age-Mowo neighborhood of Badagry after his vehicle struck their herds, killing two cows in the process.

According to information obtained by Vanguard, the incident, which occurred at around 6:30 a.m. between Age-Mowo and Agogo-Igbala in Badagry, caused serious mayhem and left commuters stranded.

It was discovered that the two cows abruptly crossed the expressway as the driver of a J Five commercial bus with the license plate FKJ 756 XH was speeding at them from Mile 2.

A bus driver named Olatunji revealed that the bus was traveling from Mile 2 when two cows suddenly charged the moving vehicle.

The bus conductor, who was still inside the vehicle, tried to flee but was unable to do so because he was trapped by the headers. Fortunately, the driver was able to escape unharmed.

Olatunji narrated;

They removed his clothes and beat him till he became unconscious. When he became unconscious they left him unconscious thinking he was dead. The headers pounced on him again when he rose, moving toward Mowo Police station to seek refuge for the fear of being killed.

It was discovered that when the herders saw the conductor walking toward the station, they pursued him and eventually caught up with him at the Mowo Police Station, where they lynched him.

The gathering of young men and women to exact revenge on the conductor’s murder, however, changed the course of events.

Until Col. M A ABBA, the Commanding Officer of the 243 Recce-Batallion Barracks, arrived, the teenagers who were demanding justice refused to let police carry the conductor’s remains to the mortuary.

The commanding officer made an appeal to the teenagers and community residents, assuring them that justice would be served in the case of the murder.

The conductor’s body was then taken and lodged in General Hospital in Badagry for additional inquiry, per his order.
