I Have Never Failed An Election Before, Tinubu Brags

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has asserted that he has never failed in an election before.

He made this assertion at APC the rally held in Ekiti on Tuesday, June 14, in preparation for the governorship election while reinforcing the efforts of the party’s candidate, Biodun Oyebanji.

Tinubu stated; “I’ve never failed an election before.”

The former Lagos Governor, who also spoke in the Yoruba language told the people to vote so that they can get money. He said, “To ba t’eka, o le te owo o” meaning, “if you don’t vote, you can’t hold money.

Tinubu further noted;

Peoples Democratic Party is a poverty development party, urging the people of the state to vote for the APC in the state and in the 2023 presidential election.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, had also assured the Ekiti electorate of transparency and security on Saturday’s governorship election.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu asserted:

Let me assure political parties and voters that the task of electing a new governor will be left in the hands of Ekiti voters. We won’t take any action to the advantage or disadvantage of any particular party or candidate. We are going to do everything according to the constitution and provisions of the Electoral Act.

Meanwhile, the IGP affirmed that: the massive deployment is not to scare the citizens, but to protect the sanctity of the ballots and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Those who want to constitute clog in the wheel of progress will face the consequences of their actions. National security should be of priority and uppermost in our minds. Let us conduct this election in the most civil manner.

He added:

All the parties must embrace the virtues of democracy. We will not allow any person or group of persons to disrupt this election no matter how highly placed. Let all the contenders provide the moral leadership so that we can achieve success together.

The governorship election in Ekiti state is slated for Saturday, June 18, 2022.
