Ex-Super Eagles Player, Justice Christopher Is DeadA former Super Eagles player, Justice Christopher, has passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, March 9.

According to veteran Nigerian journalist, Andrew Randa, Christopher died in the early hours of Wednesday morning at a hotel in Jos.

Although, there are no details yet on the cause of death, Nigerians have taken to social media to send their condolences to the family.

Christopher has been under the radar since he retired from football after leaving Nasarawa United in 2012.

The last time he was in the news was when he was robbed and physically assaulted by armed men in 2020.

Christopher made 11 appearances for the Super Eagles and was part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.

His notable appearance came in the dead rubber group game against England at Nagai Stadium, Osaka.

In an interview years after the game, Christopher claimed that his performance against the Three Lions was his best in a Super Eagles shirt.

At club level, the ex-Super Eagles midfielder had quite a journey. He started his career with Katsina United before playing for Sharks FC– now Rivers United– and Bendel Insurance.

Following his stint with the Benin based club, Christopher moved to Europe to sign for Royal Antwerp.

However, he had a short spell with the Belgian club, playing just 14 games and scoring one goal.

After leaving Antwerp, Christopher played in Bulgaria with Levski Sofia before short stints at Trelleborg, Alania Vladikavkaz and Herfølge.

He returned home after his time at Herfølge to sign for Nasarawa, which was his last club before retirement.

Christopher was 40 at the time of his death.

The former midfielder reportedly slumped in his hotel in Gwolshe, off Tudunwada Ring Road, Jos, Plateau State, on Wednesday.

The deceased had reportedly been battling high blood pressure.

He was, however, full of life and showed no sign of health challenge when he was seen in the company of his friends on Tuesday

His remains have reportedly been deposited at the Plateau Specialists hospital while an autopsy is expected to be carried out on his corpse.
