Update: Five Confirmed Dead As Multiple Explosions Rock Maiduguri Ahead Of Buhari’s VisitFive persons have been confirmed dead from bomb explosions suspected to have emanated from Boko Haram insurgents in Maiduguri ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state.

MDB earlier reported that explosions rocked three different locations in Maiduguri – Bulumkutu, Ajilari Cross and Ayaje.

One of the missiles also landed at Ajilari Cross area, near Maiduguri airport where there is a military base.

The bombs reportedly landed on several houses around the vicinity, causing extensive damage that was difficult to quantify, as at the time of filing this report.

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to commission an edifice donated by businessman and philanthropist, Mohammed Indimi to the University of Maiduguri.

He is also expected to commission some projects executed by Borno State Governor, Zulum Babagana.

According to ThePunch, a source in Ajilari cross in the Maiduguri metropolis, Maina Mohammed confirmed that a bomb exploded very close to his house killing a lady and injuring two young boys.

He said;

It dropped in my area. I am there right now. It killed an 18-year-old girl and injured two young boys.

Another source, Umar Tijani, revealed that a bomb dropped at a mosque in Umaru Shehu Hospital but did not affect anybody.

He added that another explosion at 1,000 Housing and 707 Housing Estates within the Maiduguri metropolis.

Umar stated;

The bomb dropped at a mosque in Umaru Shehu Hospital but there was nobody in the hospital. There were also other bombs that dropped at the 707 and 1,000 Housing Estates. They destroyed houses in those estates and killed four people too.

Meanwhile, it’s not clear if the president’s itinerary was affected by the explosions as at the time of filing this report.
