Anambra Decides: Replacement Of DIG Egbunike Will Not Affect Election – PoliceAnambra State police command has assured that the replacement of DIG Joseph Egbunike with AIG Zaki Ahmed would not affect the credibility of the election today.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nkeiruka Nwode, made this known while confirming Egbunike’s replacement.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Joseph Egbunike was said to have resigned less than 24 hours to the governorship election with no reason.

Nwosu assured residents that the police would not favour any governorship candidate in the Anambra governorship election this Saturday in order not to soil its reputation.

According to him;

The replacement of DIG Joseph Egbunike is true but it is not going to affect the credibility or security of the election. It’s false for anyone to contemplate that the police will soil its reputation to favour any candidate in the governorship election,” stressing that journalists should be professional and fair in reporting security-related issues regarding the election.

The new team leader is Assistant Inspector General, Zaki M. Ahmed. He will now oversee the five police commands in the Southeast.

Meanwhile, the sudden replacement is causing anxiety in Anambra State where opposition politicians have been accusing All Progressives Congress (APC), of attempting to impose its controversial candidate, Andy Uba, a former senator, on the people.
