Just In: Total COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 40,000 As NCDC Confirms 555 New Cases

Total coronavirus cases in Nigeria has exceeded 40,000 after Nigeria Centre for Disease Control recorded 555 new cases.

The new toll comes two days after the country’s total coronavirus surpassed the 39,000 mark.

NCDC in a tweet on Sunday has now announced;

On Saturday, there were 39,977 total cases, 16,948 recoveries and 856 death cases across the country.

With the latest toll, total cases have now increased to 40,532 with 17,374 recoveries and 858 casualties across the country.

Also, NCDC in its latest situation report has revealed that overall samples tested nationwide have increased from 259,516 to 262,579 as at July 25.

Meanwhile, NCDC Director General, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu has said that Nigerians must learn to live with the COVID-19 pandemic for at least one year.

He made this statement with regards to hospital who reject patients requiring medical attention.

Iheakweazu stressed that it is a reality hospitals must live with instead of sending patients away, adding;

This message is for hospitals in the country. We have to live with this disease for at least one year at its very best, so we can’t turn our patients away.
