Breaking: NCDC Confirms 490 New Coronavirus Cases, 382 Recoveries

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed 490 new cases of coronavirus and 382 recoveries on Sunday.

According to the centre’s latest data posted on Twitter;

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, the country’s total coronavirus exceeded the 24,000 mark having 24,077 cases with 8,625 discharged patients and 558 causalities.

With the new toll, there are now 24,567 total cases, 9007 recoveries and 565 death cases across the country.

Also, total samples tested nationwide have moved from 127,158 to 130,164 as at June 27, according to NCDC’s situation report.

Meanwhile, Lagos State government has revealed plans to build an International Infectious Disease Research Centre in the state.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, disclosed that the centre would be situated at the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, as part of the government’s response to COVID-19 and preparation for other infectious diseases after the pandemic.

He made the disclosure on Sunday at the official launch of the 150-bed Mainland Infectious Disease Isolation Centre donated by the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) to the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that the government would also erect a purpose-built Doctors’ Quarters and permanent isolation wards to ramp up capacity for any infectious disease outbreak in Lagos.
