Lock Down Ondo: Nigerians Call For Lockdown In Ondo Amid Coronavirus Spread

Nigerians have called on Ondo state government to lockdown the state following announcement by Ondo State Government on Thursday that there will be no restriction of movements on Easter Sunday.

The state said the ban lift is in order to enable the Christians in the state gather in their various churches.

Ondo state government had earlier placed a ban on religious activities as part of the measures in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease in the state.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in collaboration with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu agreed to ease the restriction to allow church services hold in churches on Easter Sunday.

A Twitter campaign with the hashtag #LockDownOndo has been trending with Nigerians calling on Governor Akeredolu to lockdown the state and restrict movement on Easter Day in order to avoid the spread of Coronavirus

The campaigners also called the attention of the Governor to rising number of cases in the state as Commissioner for Health in Ondo state, Wahah Adegbenro on Friday evening confirmed a second case of Coronavirus.
