Unknown Gunmen Ransack Benue Community, Kills At Least 20

At least 20 persons were killed in Zaki Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State on Monday evening, a report by Daily Post reports.

Udam Wuhe, a leader in Zaki Biam community which shares boundary with Wukari local government area of Taraba said that more than 10 gunmen attacked the town from TorTonda- Zaki Biam around 5PM.

Wuhe said several houses were burnt, adding that at least 20 dead bodies were seen by residents.

Wuhe could not ascertain if the attackers were Fulani Herdsmen.

The tragic incident was also confirmed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu.

“We are yet to ascertain the number of those killed in the attack. Our men are already on ground there to restore normalcy to the area,” Yamu said.
