Prostitutes Lament About Low Customer Turn-Out During Ramadan

Prostitutes across Lagos and Abuja especially have cried out over low patronage during the month of Ramadan. Calling it a “drought season”.
They blamed the fast for their low turnover and from information, sex workers have reported losses of around N10,000 per night as opposed to their usual revenue.

Lizzy, a sex worker at Allen Avenue, Ikeja, reported that she used to make around N15,000 before Ramadan but has made only around N5,000 since the Holy month began.

When questioned over her reasons for continuing her trade through Ramadan, Lizzy failed to provide an answer.

Despite the stigma surrounding the sex trade, prostitutes have developed strategies to maximize profit since a ban on sex work was instituted in the state in June 2013.

Prostitutes in the state have taken to hawking sex-boosting drugs in addition to their usual services, promising customers a good time that is well worth the amount they pay.
