Mr. Obi claimed that in the face of rising security threats and a humanitarian crisis, he and the PDP Governors share a desire to build a better Nigeria.

He said;

The only deal I have with them is that they are passionate about Nigeria.

He criticised the All Progressive Congress for acting ineffectively in the face of the current situation.

Mr. Ortom received accolades from Mr. Obi for tackling security issues in Benue State at his own risk and convenience.

On his part, Ortom advised Mr. Obi to seek the support of other prominent presidential contenders while pledging to represent the interests of the people.

The governor claimed that he would have been working for the Labour party candidate if he had not joined the PDP.

Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Okezie Ikepeazu of Abia State, and Mr. Ortom are a few of the PDP governors that are upset.

Because of a prior agreement, the governors have asked PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu to step down in favour of a southerner.

With Mr Ayu insistent on continuing as Chairman, the Governors have withdrawn their support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Some believe the aggrieved PDP Governors may support Mr Obi in the 2023 presidential elections.
