Lai Mohammed Exonerates Buhari From Political Crisis In Adamawa

Infractions committed by Hudu Yunusa Ari, the residential electoral commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State, must be handled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to the minister of information, Lai Mohammed.

This follows Ari’s recent suspension for making the contentious announcement of the Adamawa supplemental governorship election results while collation was still taking place.

Among other resolutions, INEC said it would “request the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to draw the attention of the appointing authority to the unwholesome behaviour of the REC for further action.”

Lai Mohammed, however, said he was unaware that a petition had been sent to the President for him to take action against Ari during a Q&A session with State House Correspondents.

The minister stated that Ari worked for INEC when he spoke following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting that was presided over by Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president.

The minister insisted, however, that the lack of action by the government was due to the President, who, in his words, “has never intervened in the way INEC conducts its elections” and, as a result, does not micromanage any institution of government.

The President does not micromanage any institution. I don’t think that this government has ever intervened in the way the Independent National Electoral Commission conducts its elections.

I don’t think that this government has ever intervened in the way the Independent National Electoral Commission conducts its elections.

So, there’s no need for us to intervene. It was entirely an INEC matter and INEC handled it.

The chairman of INEC is in charge of all employees of INEC and he’s handling it. So, what do you want the government to do?”

The President does not micromanage any institution. I think you should go and ask INEC. INEC handles all these businesses.

INEC took certain steps, right, it in the context of INEC to so do. I’m not aware that there’s a petition. It was not addressed to me. That’s why I said your best bet is probably to ask INEC.

You see, the President does not micromanage every institution…I think I’m the wrong person you are asking this question.
