The allegation claims that Buhari also ordered the REC to face legal action if found guilty following the probe.

“Also, the President has directed investigation by the Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, of the role of their officers in aiding and abetting the conduct/actions of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari and if found culpable, appropriate disciplinary actions, to be meted out to them,” the statement reads.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had asked Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Adamawa, to stay away from its office in the state.

The directive was conveyed in a letter on Monday signed by Rose Oriaran-Anthony, secretary to the commission.

The REC had declared Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Adamawa state governorship election when results from 10 LGAs had not been announced.

Oriaran-Anthony in the letter, said the administrative secretary has been asked to take full charge of the office in Adamawa with immediate effect.
