Fashola Reveals Good Road Infrastructure Will Improve Students’ Education

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has disclosed that the improved road infrastructure in public universities has technically improved students’ desire to learn.

Fashola stated this during the inauguration and handover of some rehabilitated roads in Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebonyi state, and Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.

The minister revealed that no fewer than 83 federal tertiary institutions across the country have benefited from road projects initiated by the ministry.

He noted;

The gap of our road infrastructure needs is steadily being bridged by a gradual process of repairs, renewal, and construction on major highways and it has reached the schools.

The quality of education will be impacted by the quality of infrastructure and the learning environment and those who doubt it should simply listen to some of the feedback from students in the schools where this type of intervention has taken place.

Fashola stated that the projects have improved and increased the number of students, adding;

It is, therefore, undebatable that the quality of education has been impacted by the quality of Infrastructure and the neat and clean learning environment.

The minister who was represented by the Federal Controller of Works, Ebonyi State, Steve Oluwadum, and Umar Bakare, the Controller of Works in Lagos State, explained that the intervention work aimed at improving the quality of education was gradually bridging the gap of our infrastructure needs in our tertiary institutions.

He further described road projects as an investment in education.
