The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has clarified that he is not interested in becoming a minister after his tenure as governor.

Wike made this assertion on Tuesday, August 16, at the inauguration of the newly constructed lounge at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.

He noted;

Only one person can be a minister from a state, I will not be a minister. I will not. I am not a liability, Rivers State is an asset.

So if you don’t want to win an election, it’s your business. I’m not the one running the election.

Ministerial appointments are frequently utilized, as is customary, to appoint candidates who came in second or resigned from a political race.

Wike continued by urging all presidential candidates’ supporters to leave Abuja and campaign for their candidate at home.

He who wears the shoes knows where it pinches him.

You want to support a candidate, you are not at home you’re in Abuja.

Come home and campaign and work for the party.

Stop this Abuja politics of carrying rumours to the candidate.

Meanwhile, former presidential candidate, Kingsley Moghalu has admonished Nigerian youths to desist from making derogatory remarks about all presidential candidates.

In a series of tweets shared on Tuesday afternoon, Moghalu stated that youths should show respect to all presidential candidates without making cruel statements on social media.

The former Young Progressive Party (YPP) presidential candidate admonished youths to share their ideas and visions without making snide remarks. He added that there is nothing captivating about hurling insults at those who would eventually emerge as the leader of the nation.

Moghalu stated that there is no need for “avoid personalized insults“.

The first part of his tweet reads;

I believe it is important, no matter who anyone supports or will end up voting for in 2023, to be tolerant and respectful of ALL candidates. Please debate ideas, visions (if and where they exist), experience and track record, and avoid personalized insults.
