Some Nigerians on Twitter expressed their anger over the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, continuing his studies in a university in the United States of America despite the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ ongoing strike action.

Since February 14, when lecturers began to boycott classes, academic activity at government-owned universities have been suspended nationwide.

In an effort to gain support for the lecturers who are on strike, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has started a two-day nationwide protest against the federal government’s refusal to accede to the union’s demands.

Gbajabiamila announced on Tuesday, July 26, that he had returned to the Harvard Kennedy School via his verified Twitter account, @femigbaja.

The Speaker tweeted;

Back to class. In a leadership course @havard @Kennedy_school. Forget the number of grey hairs, one is never too old to learn.

Nigerians responded to his post with disapproval, rage, and annoyance after noticing Gbajabiamila posing for a photo with a Caucasian colleague that was shared alongside the tweets.
