Authorities To Shutdown Runway 18L At Lagos Airport For Two Months

Moji Delano on Wednesday, July 6 gathered that the Runway 18L of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos in South-West Nigeria will be closed from midnight of Thursday, July 7, 2022.

The closure is due to major repair works in the Installation of Airfield lighting of the Runway, according to the television station, AIT.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN is expected to install Approach lights, Runway lights, Threshold centreline as well as Edge lights.

Additionally, the notice to Airmen NOTAM from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA; was sent to Airline operators, Pilots as well as other key stakeholders notifying them of the closure which will last for two months from July 8 to September 5.

FAAN had on Tuesday held a meeting with Airline operators on the proposed closure.

When contacted, FAAN spokesperson, Faithfull Hope-Ivbaze said the Agency will soon issue a statement to that effect.
