Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church and frontline presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, has declined to step down in the ongoing primaries.

Bakare stated this at the ongoing special convention of the ruling party at the Eagles Square in Abuja.

He was the running mate of the Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election, which they lost.

While speaking, the cleric stated;

We must be compassionate and sensitive to the pains of the citizens because history is written in retrospect which is why we must learn in history.

Jan 15, 2011, I received a call from PMB inviting me to be his running mate in the 2011 elections on the CPC platform. In convincing me to accept his invitation, our President said to me that he chose me because having examined my records, he was convinced that should the need arises, he can confidently hand over affairs to me.

He declared;

The time is now and the hour has come. I am not here to step down for anyone and I respect all aspirants. But I am here to step down with the support of the delegates to be the president.

I am going to nurture this party to become strong and I am offering myself to create the ideal Nigerian dream.

Bakare added;

Peace
Progress
Prosperity
Possibility

Many of the experienced people have introduced corruption to the country which is why we must vote those who lead by righteousness

Many have gone about inducing the delegates but we seek to be the forefront rather than relying just on oil.

His comments came after aspirants like Ibiyemi Amosun, Godswill Akpabio, Kayode Fayemi, among others stepped down for Tinubu.
