Basketball Ball World Cup: Rude Boy Disappointed In Nigerian Sports Minister, Sunday DareNigerian recording artiste, Rude Boy whose real name is Paul Okoye, has criticized the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare following the removal of the Nigerian female basketball from the upcoming world cup tournament.
According to Rude Boy, who is one half of the popular twin duo P Square, accused the Sports Minister of exercising ‘too much power‘.
Rude Boy‘s statement comes after the Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress were removed from the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup scheduled to take place between 22 September and 1 October, 2022 in Serbia.

The Ministry, supported by President Muhammadu Buhari, banned all national basketball teams, including D’Tigers and D’Tigress, from participating in international competitions for two years.

D’Tigress later protested against the ban, expressing their desire to represent Nigeria at the quadrennial tournament, but the government was bent on upholding the international ban.

Sunday Dare, minister of sports and youth development had claimed that the ban is part of efforts by the government to revamp the sport from the grassroots.
Unfortunately, International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has now replaced the Nigerian team with Mali as the competition approaches.
Reacting to this via his Instastory, Rude Boy stated that “corruption is getting out of hand in the country“.
He also wondered why a Minister thinks he has the power to forcefully withdraw a team from the world cup.
