Osinbajo Congratulates Tinubu On Victory At APC Presidential Primary

Tinubu and OsinbajoVice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory yesterday at the ruling All Progressives Congress Presidential Primaries.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, June 9, by the Vice-President, in Abuja.

Osinbajo said:

I congratulate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at our party primaries; and his emergence as the Presidential Candidate and Flagbearer of our great party, the APC for the forthcoming 2023 Presidential Elections.

I also congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari and all leaders of the APC for a successful Special Convention and Presidential Primary.

The Vice-President further extolled Tinubu’s virtues; explaining his contributions to the entrenchment of democratic ideals in the country.

Osinbajo stressed:

For many decades, our Flagbearer has shown passion, patriotism, courage and determination in the cause of nation-building. His sterling contributions to our democracy and its progress stand him out. His wealth of experience will certainly be critical in our party’s continued efforts to attain a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.

To all members of our great party, regardless of who you voted for at the primaries; we must now unite behind our Presidential Candidate and Flagbearer to ensure victory for our party in the 2023 elections.

As true progressives, we must remain strong and united in pursuing our collective vision as a party towards building a country that can provide a decent life and livelihoods for all our people.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former Lagos State Governor, took a crucial step toward his goal of becoming Nigeria’s President by winning the All Progressives Congress’ presidential primary in Eagle Square, Abuja.

He defeated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi; and Senate President Ahmad Lawan to win the race by a landslide.

Tinubu received 1,271 votes, more than four times that of his closest challenger, Amaechi, who received 316 votes.

With 235, 152, and 47 votes, respectively, Osinbajo, Lawan, and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State trailed the duo.

Tinubu was elected as the ruling party’s presidential flagbearer after a vote of more than 2,300 delegates.

In the presidential election on February 25, he will face Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and others.
