The Governor re-echoed his colleagues in the Southern Nigeria Governors’ Forum in a short message posted on his personal Facebook page on Thursday, June 2, saying that power should be rotated to the south.

APC, according to Akeredolu, must be prepared to rotate power in order to keep the presidency, adding that the party must rotate the president to the south in order to keep power.

The governor said;

APC must work to retain power. We must rotate power to retain power !!! Rotate to the South. …Shikena (That’s all).

Our party, the All Progressives Congress, has started the process which will eventually culminate in the presentation of elected political leaders, who must steer the affairs of the country for another term. We have been able to hold the party’s Convention successfully.

New officers of the party have emerged in a process that is widely acknowledged as rancour-free. The level of understanding and maturity displayed by all and sundry has been commendable. Known adversaries have been forced to accept the emerging fact that our party is formidable and ready for the next general elections.

We cannot, therefore, afford any internal bickering which holds the potential promise of causing distrust and militating against cohesion, harmony and the zeal to achieve set objectives.

The contemporary democratic dispensation, according to Akeredolu, is based on an unwritten agreement guided by the notion of equity.

He further clarified that political expediency dictates, more appealingly, that the APC must do nothing that could tip the delicate balance against the established arrangement that ensures peace and promotes trust, while adhering to the spirit and letters of the laws governing election conduct and succession to political offices.
