President Buhari Nominates Emefiele As CBN Governor For Second TermGovernor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has on Friday formally announced his intention to run for the office of the presidency in 2023.

Emefiele announced this at the State House, Abuja, after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to PeoplesGazette, the CBN Governor has also picked his N100 million nomination form of the ruling party, APC.

Some groups had been drumming support for Emefiele to join the presidential race, a move which has been criticised by many Nigerians.

They had called on Emefiele to resign his position as CBN governor if he was interested in running for political office.

His declaration has now puts to rest speculation about whether or not he would join partisan politics while leading the nation’s central bank.

Emefiele is the first central bank governor to join active politics and seek an elective position while in office.

Meanwhile, former Ogun Governor Governor and Senator Ibikunle Amosun; Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu and Senator Ajayi Boroffice have also picked the N100 million presidential nomination forms.
