Loan Agreements: Reps Uncover Clauses Conceding Nigeria’s Sovereignty To ChinaA bill seeking to provide for special seats for women at National Assembly and State Houses of Assemblies has on Tuesday failed to pass through the House of Representatives.

The bill was defeated in the Senate with 58 votes out of 91.

In the House of Representatives 208 out of 290 lawmakers voted against it.

Wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo was present on the floor of the House of Representatives for the vote.

Addressing journalists on her way out of the House chamber, Mrs Osinbajo said she remains hopeful that it is not the end of the agitation for women inclusion.

Also speaking on the outcome, the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Kedem Tallen, said the situation was a show of shame.

Last week, the wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, was admitted into the chamber when the constitution amendment bills were laid.
