Mohamed Salah will take on Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane in the Africa Cup of Nations final after Egypt booked their spot with a penalty shootout victory over hosts Cameroon on Thursday, February 3.

Egypt beat Cameroon 3-1 on penalties to reach the Africa Cup of Nations final on Thursday after their last-four tie in Yaounde finished goalless at the end of extra time, necessitating penalty shootout to decide who join Senegal in Sunday’s final match.

Egypt goalkeeper, Mohamed Abou Gabal also known as Gabaski saved two spot-kicks in the shoot-out before Cameroon’s Clinton Njie missed, sending the record seven-time African champions through to Sunday’s final against Senegal.

The heroic performance from injured Gabal sent his country through to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations as he saved two penalties in a dramatic shoot-out.

Cameroon missed three of their four kicks, thanks to Egyptian keeper, Gabaski who caught two of the penalties, while Egypt converted all three kicks.

Earlier on 18 minutes, Cameroon almost took the lead as Michael Ngadeu rose high to meet the resultant corner kick and attempted to steer his fine header past the goalkeeper, but it only hit the crossbar.

Two minutes later, Ngadeu got to a rebound inside the goalmouth, but he missed the target and failed to score.

On 56 minutes, Mohamed Salah dribbled into the box, but Andre Onana was quick enough to come off his line and stopped him.

On 70 minutes, a rebound landed at the feet of Karl Toko Ekambi, whose promising strike from long range smashed against left post.
