Nobel Laureate And Girls’ Education Activist, Malala Yousafzai Gets MarriedNobel laureate and girls’ education advocate, Malala Yousafzai has on Tuesday, November 9 gotten married to her partner, Asser Malik.

The couple held a private Nikkai ceremony at home in Birmingham, United States, Malala announced on Instagram.

Sharing four photos from the ceremony, she wrote;

Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.

Her husband is Asser Malik, an operations manager for Pakistan Cricket Board from the city of Lahore.

In the photos, Malala could be seen posing alongside her newlywed husband, Asser, as well as her parents, Ziauddin Yousafzai and Toor Pekai Yousafzai.

For her big day, Malala wore a melon-pink outfit adorned with gold embroidery.

Her nikkah pictures were captured by her friend, Malin Fezehai, who is a photographer and visual journalist, The News reports.

Malala gained international recognition for her activism against the Taliban’s efforts to stop girls from attending school.

When she was 15, she was shot in the head by a member of the Taliban and flown to the England to receive treatment.

In 2014, she won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17, becoming the youngest laureate of the prize.

Last year, she graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
