Land Fraud: EFCC Reportedly Releases Wife Of Kano Gov, Dr Hafsat Ganduje

EFCC Raids Lagos Hotel, Arrests 30 People For Alleged FraudDr. Hafsat Umar Ganduje, wife of Kano state Governor, has regained freedom after being allegedly quizzed by Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

Recall that PremiumTimes reported that Hafsat, was arrested over allegations of bribery and fraud after EFCC acted based on a petition by her son, Abdulazeez Ganduje.

Hafsat was arrested after failing to show up at the EFCC Abuja headquarters on September 13 upon invitation.

Abdulazeez was said to have reported his mother to the commission for corruptly using family power and status for personal enrichment.

According to the publication, Abdulazeez in his petition had stated that he was approached by a property developer to help facilitate the acquisition of some plots of land in Kano with some hundreds of thousands of US dollars and at least 35 million naira as “facilitation commission”. He was said to have paid the money to his mother.

A source was quoted to have said;

But three months later, the property developer discovered that the plots of land he wanted and had paid for had been allocated to other buyers. He then requested to be refunded.

In latest development, a source told the Guardian that Governor Ganduje, who accompanied his wife to EFCC headquarters, was said to have prevailed on the power that is with strong influenced that eventually see to the released of his wife.

The Governor and his wife returned to Kano through Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano on Tuesday morning.
