‘Power’ and ‘Coming 2 America’ actor, Rotimi and Tanzanian singer fiancée, Vanessa Mdee are expecting their first child together – a baby boy.
The Nigerian-American actor and singer, 32, shared the big news via his Instagram page, releasing beautiful maternity photos.
As caption for one of the post, Rotimi wrote;
My greatest gift has been you. You changed my life and now we are beautifully linked forever to raise a little us. I pray our son has your glow Your heart, Your mind, and your spirit. I will protect you and our son with everything I have!

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the couple said;
We are super excited to welcome our son. As first-time parents, everything about this experience has been a brand-new challenge. We love it.
Mdee, 33, said she has so far had a “very smooth” pregnancy journey so far, adding that;
He’s been so good to us. No real pain or symptoms. Some funny cravings and food aversions here and there. It’s been much harder in these final weeks because he’s preparing his arrival, but all in all we’ve been super blessed.
The singers met at an Essence Festival afterparty in New Orleans in 2019 and have been “inseparable ever since”, according to Rotimi.
He added that;
Vee headed back to Africa [at the time], but we quickly realized we couldn’t and didn’t want to live without each other.
Shortly after they began dating, Mdee relocated from Africa to Atlanta to live with Rotimi. The pair later got engaged on December 30, 2020, in Atlanta.

Speaking about what kind of parents they think each other will be when their baby boy arrives, Rotimi says his fiancée is destined to be a “very passionate, love and protective mom.”
While Mdee says Rotimi is “definitely going to be the cool, calm, collected and fun dad who’s also a great communicative disciplinarian.”
