Police Disperse Yoruba Nation Agitators At Ojota With Water CannonOperatives of Lagos Police Command have on Saturday dispersed Yoruba nation agitators who gathered at Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, with water cannon, teargas, gunshots.

The development took place shortly after Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, addressed journalists at the venue saying no rally is allowed in the state.

However, some Yoruba nation agitators dared the security operatives by spreading banners and flyers to announce their arrival and presence.

Few minutes into the protest, police reportedly unleashed water cannon on the protesters who held placards, demanding an independent state for the south-west region.

MDB earlier reported that security operatives had surrounded Gani Fawehinmi Park, the venue of the protest, to forestall a breakdown of order.

Although there was no presence of protesters earlier in the day, the rally venue was later parked with agitators chanting and holding placards.

According to ThePunch, gunshots were fired by policemen present at Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos as the Yoruba nation rally began.

Some of the agitators were seen getting dragged into an armoured tank by policemen.
