Yoruba secessionist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has explained how his Ibadan residence was attacked by men he claimed to be military personnel in the early hours of today, July 1.
The unknown gunmen attacked the house located in the Soka area of Ibadan at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, destroying valuable assets in the building.

Footage from the incident, shared by loyalists of the agitator, also contained blood spills in the activist’s living room and vehicles destroyed.
A commentator in a live video of the incident said the soldiers stormed the residence with five patrol vans, Hilux, and private vehicles and passed through Iwo road from Soka after the attack.
According to her, soldiers departed the residence at about 04:30 a.m.
Reacting, Banji Akintoye, the leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, confirmed the attack, adding that seven persons were allegedly killed and taken away.

He claimed that Igboho’s wife alongside scores were also taken away by the soldiers who did not present a warrant when they invaded the residential property.
Meanwhile, Oluyomi Koiki, a spokesperson for Igboho in an update on Facebook stated that “two people killed, 10 taken away now about to be taken to Abuja.”
However, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Onyema Nwachukwu, expressed he was unaware of the incident, stressing;
There’s nothing like that, I don’t have that information. Soldiers did not carry out an attack on Igboho.
Finally breaking his silence several hours after the incident, Igboho in an interview with BBC Yoruba said;
I just heard plenty bullet in my compound and gunshot in front of my house. They were shouting Sunday Igboho come out, we are DSS, we are soldiers, come out!
So I peeped through the window, and I saw them in DSS uniform and soldiers so I was surprised because I didn’t kill anyone nor fight with anybody, what I’m doing is to fight for me people.

He expressed;
All the rally I’m doing is a peaceful rally, so I’m fighting for my family too because all the bandits killed my family, raped them kidnapped them and take ransom from them.
Government refused to do the right thing, that’s why I came out to support my family to fight for our right. So I was surprised.
Yes, I was in the house when they came. They killed about two guys. The shooting was too much. They destroyed all my properties, all my vehicles
However, he did not disclose how he escaped from the scene of the fatal incident unscathed.
