Alleged Sexual Assault: Baba Ijesha To Be Arraigned On Thursday Following Bail Denial

Lagos Court Denies Baba Ijesha Bail In Sexual Assault CaseEmbattled Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, will be arraigned at an Ikeja special offences court on Thursday, June 24 over allegations of sexual assault against him, it has emerged.

Recall that Baba Ijesha was arrested and detained by Lagos police after he was alleged to have sexually molested foster daughter of  comedian, Princess when she was 7 and recently at 14.

Then last Wednesday, Baba Ijesha was arraigned before Magistrate Peter Nwaka on charges of rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor.

Magistrate Nwaka, however, refused the actor’s fresh bail application on the ground that Lagos State Ministry of Justice had filed charges before a High Court.

The magistrate court sitting in Lagos quashed his bail application on the ground that the matter was already beyond its jurisdiction.

Nwaka stated;

I have carefully considered the application of the counsel to the defendant seeking bail for the defendant and the opposition by the counsel from the DPP.

Since there are indications that the matter is before the high court and the defendant will appear before the court, no bail can be given. The defendant must be accorded full medical attention by the authorities pending his arraignment at the High Court.

NAN reports that the movie star is scheduled to stand trial before Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the judge, as the case is among the issues listed for the day’s session.

The new development comes after Princess released more evidence to substantiate her allegations against the actor.

The comedienne, in a series of posts, shared a recording of Baba Ijesha, alleging that while in police custody, he instructed his group members to spread false information.

Princess further shared some messages from people who claimed to be victims of the embattled actor.
