A Downing Street spokeswoman on Sunday morning, May 30 said;

The Prime Minister and Ms Symonds were married yesterday afternoon in a small ceremony at Westminster Cathedral.

This is the first time a British leader has married in office in 199 years.

Photos of the newlyweds show them smiling at each other in the garden of 10 Downing Street. The bride wore a white dress and a floral headband and the groom wore a black suit and blue tie, with a white rose in his buttonhole.

The prime minister’s office said that the couple would celebrate with family and friends next summer.

According to The Sun, senior aides of the prime minister had little knowledge about the wedding beforehand.

On short notice, about 30 guests were invited to the ceremony —the maximum number of attendees allowed under COVID restrictions in England, Daily Mail reports.

The couple got engaged on the island of Mustique in late 2019 and have a one-year-old son, Wilfred.

The marriage will be Johnson’s third. The first was in 1987 when he married Allegra Mostyn-Owen at 23.

He later wedded Marina Wheeler in 1993 but they divorced in 2018. The union produced four children: Lara Lettice, Cassia Peaches, Milo Arthur, and Theodore Apollo.
