I’m Not Behind Rice Distribution In The North But I Commend The Groups – TinubuBola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied being responsible for the distribution of bags of rice in some states in the northern part of Nigeria.

Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudasiru Osaba donated 10,000 bags of 15kg rice to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno State.

The rice were branded with Tinubu’s face with the inscription ‘JAGABA – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’.

According to some reports, the food items were said to be aimed at cushioning the hardship faced by thousands of IDPs during the holy month of Ramadan fasting.

Reacting, Tinubu in a statement signed by Tunde Rahman, his spokesman, insisted that he was not responsible for the gesture.

He, however, commended the efforts of the various groups that were responsible, for their benevolence.

The APC stalwart expressed;

We have seen the images being circulated of bags of rice depicting Asiwaju’s face being distributed across parts of the North.

I am not responsible for this initiative but l commend the efforts of the various volunteer groups responsible for this benign act of charity and love for one another, particularly in this Holy month of Ramadan.

There has been speculation that the former governor of Lagos will contest in the 2023 presidential election.

Although Tinubu has not publicly declared his interest in the highest office in the land, his some of allies and associates have reportedly started campaigning for him.
