Manchester City are looking to become the first English Premiership team to win 13 successive games in all competitions since Arsenal in 2002.

They travel to face a revamped Burnley side on Wednesday night in match week 22 of the 2020/2021 Premier League.

City have been on an extraordinary run of form over the past couple of months and lead their way at the top of the Premier league Table.

The Manchester side have been on a hot streak of late, having won their last 12 matches. This has seen them have equal points as their Manchester rivals who demolished Southampton 9-0 last night, Manchester City have played two games less.

Opponents Burnley recently have enjoyed a resurgent run which allowed them to moved away from the bottom of the table. Though they are 16th in the table, they have an eight-point advantage over the 18th placed Fulham (relegation zone).

Manchester City made tough work of seeing off bottom side Sheffield United at the weekend, with Gabriel Jesus’s early goal proving enough to separate the two sides.

It was less than two weeks ago that Burnley went to Anfield and picked up a 1-0 victory, ending Liverpool’s 68-game unbeaten home League run.

The Clarets (as Burnley is fondly called) followed that up with a 3-2 victory at Aston Villa, though a 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday means that they are still in the lower reaches of the division.

Riyad Mahrez has scored more goals against Burnley than he has against any other side, he last scored seven in his last four appearances.

Burnley have won four of their last six home matches. Not that City will care all that much about that statistic, having won each of their last seven meetings with the Clarets in all competitions by an aggregate score of 28-1.

Pep Guardiola’s team have also won six competitive away matches in all competitions heading into his game. The reverse fixture ended in 5-0, Riyad Mahrez scoring netting a Hat-trick.
