Kidnapped Schoolgirls Not Yet Free, To Be Released Soon – Zamfara Govt Clarifies

Breaking: Abducted Jangebe Schoolgirls Regain FreedomZamfara State Government has debunked media reports that the 317 students kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in the Talata Mafara Local Government Area days ago have regained their freedom.

It would be recalled that armed attackers invaded the school around 1am on Friday, February 26, 2021, and took away the students.

Two days after the attack, report about their release went rife on social media, adding that the victims were on their way to Gusau, the state capital, to meet with Governor Bello Matawalle.

However, according to PMNews, Governor Bello Matawalle debunked the viral report in Gusau on Sunday when he received a Federal Government delegation, which came on a sympathy visit.

Matawalle told the delegation that the girls will be released very soon, saying;

We are using the leaders of the repentant bandits to rescue the schoolgirls from the kidnappers. Very soon we are going to witness the release of the abductees.

He said his administration “is going to continue with peace process with bandits considering its impact in addressing security challenges facing the state”.

Matawalle commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sending the delegation to symphathise the state over what he described as “ugly act”.

Special prayers were offered for the release of the schoolgirls during the visit.

The delegation was led by aviation minister, Hadi Sirika.
