Worldwide Entertainment’s (WWE) biggest, John Cena would be missing Wrestlemania 37 scheduled to take place as a two-night event on April 10 and 11, 2021 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

John Cena confirmed filming of a TV show will prevent him from making an appearance at wrestlemania as he is currently in Vancouver, Canada shooting HBO Max’s series Peacemaker.

He is set to remain filming on set until July, which means due to current restrictions regarding COVID-19, it will not be “logistically possible” for him to be at Wrestlemania 37.

Cena told Sports Illustrated in a recent interview that;

Currently, I’m in Vancouver shooting Peacemaker, the series for HBO Max. Given the quarantine regulations, If I were to leave Canada, upon return I would have to quarantine for another two weeks. Essentially, that would shut production down. Strictly based on the letter of the Law right now, there is no logical way I can be there (Wrestlemania 37). We film now until July.

Cena added;

It’s very difficult to say because I know it’s going to be disappointing for a lot of people, but according to the letter of regulation right now , there is no mathematical way I can be at wrestlemania this year.

Of course, his words are going to be dissected by fans in the weeks leading up to the wrestlemania 37Pro wrestling is unlike any other sport major form of sport or entertainment in that even when the word comes straight from the horse’s mouth, many fans won’t take their world at face value. This is because pro wrestling thrives on surprises and blending the line between the real and the scripted.

Thus, there will be speculation that Cena is simply throwing out a red herring in order to make his potential return a surprise.

The 44-year-old legend is now enjoying success in Hollywood and is set to star in a super Bowl commercial for Mountain Dew.

Despite only appearing on a part-time basis for WWE over the couple of years, the 16-time world champion has never missed Wrestlemania since his debut in 2004.

His last Wrestlemania appearance was in a firefly funhouse match against Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 36.

Cena’s presence at Wrestlemania would certainly give the show a star power boost, but WWE shouldn’t have a problem stacking the show this year even if the “you can’t see me” star is absent.
