FG To Bring Back Nigerians Stranded In Saudi Arabia Soon – Boss Mustapha

Evacuated NigeriansFederal Government has opened diplomatic channels on the plight of Nigerians awaiting deportation from Saudi Arabia.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said this at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing on Monday in Abuja.

It would be recalled that some Nigerians in a viral video were seen calling for help as they haven detained by Saudi authorities for staying beyond their permits.

The video showed many people, mostly men, wrapped in black polythene bags on the floor in a packed room and the house narrator said some of them have been in that location for about 7 moths.

Reacting, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), confirmed that the nationals would be flown home this week.

Giving further information about the affected persons, Mustapha, the Chairman of the PTF on COVID-19, said;

Nigeria is currently working with the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the deportation of 600 Nigerians.

He said that the deportees were expected to arrive in two batches on January 28 and 29 and would be quarantined for 14 days in line with COVID-19 protocols.
