Melinda Coleman, mother of Netflix documentary star, Daisy Coleman, has killed herself just four months after her daughter took her own life at 23.

The 58-year-mother died on Sunday evening after being heartbroken over the death of her daughter who spoke candidly about her sexual assault at 14 in a 2016 Netflix documentary ‘Audrie & Daisy’.

She was raped in 2012 at a house party in Missouri, an incident that no one has been prosecuted for, as press time.

The documentary showed how Daisy and her family dealt with the horrific ordeal of her rape and also documented the sexual assault case of another sexual assualt victim, Audrie Pott in 2012, who tragically died by suicide 10 days after her ordeal.

Unfortunately, Daisy on August 5 died from self-inflicted gunshot wound while talking to her boyfriend on FaceTime.

Shortly after her death, Melinda revealed how her daughter killed herself on learning she couldn’t have children and that it was likely she couldn’t conceive because of the rape she suffered as a teenager.

Announcing the passing of on its Instagram page, SafeBae, a youth-led sexual assault prevention group created by late Daisy Coleman, stated;

We are in shock and disbelief to share with our SafeBae family, that we lost Melinda Coleman to suicide this evening.

The bottomless grief of losing her husband, Tristan and Daisy was more than she could face most days.

Melinda was a gifted veterinarian, devoted mother and wife, and talented body builder. More than anything, she loved and believed in her children. It is no accident that she created some of the most gifted, passionate, and resilient children.

Our hearts are with Logan and Charlie. There are no words for our sadness, only that if you are struggling with trauma or depression, you are not alone.
